Event Description: 

The History and Archaeology of Fort Motte is a South Carolina State Museum traveling exhibit developed by the S.C. Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum. This exhibit examines the 1781 siege of Fort Motte, in present Calhoun County, that was a British outpost during the Revolutionary War. In May, 1781 Francis Marion and Henry "Lighthorse Harry" lay siege to the fort, and after seven days of resisting, 184 British soldiers surrendered. Weapon fragments, ammunition, pottery, buttons, coins and more will be on display.
