Sumter County Hosts Double Dutch World Championship

Double Dutch Team JumpingThe 39th American Double Dutch League World Invitational Championships will be held at the Sumter County Civic Center on June 15 and June 16, 2012.

Double dutch is a game in which two long jump ropes turning in opposite directions are jumped by one or more players jumping simultaneously. 

A jumper usually performs tricks that may involve gymnastics or breakdance, and may also incorporate fancy foot movements.

The the World Invitational Championships,  teams from South Carolina, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Boston and international representative Japan as each team competes for World Championships in their respective grade levels. Competitors will compete in Freestyle, Compulsory and Speed events.

Admission to the Sumter County Recreation Department and Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club sponsored event is FREE.  Competition starts at 9AM each day, so come on out and support the teams while watching some of the best jumpers in the world do their thing.
