County Council approves 1st reading of easement during Tuesday meeting

Sumter County Council voted Tuesday evening during its regular meeting to approve an ordinance to further efforts in re-configuring the North Lafayette Drive and North Main Street intersection, and also voted to approve the 2018 calendar for employees of Sumter County.

County Attorney Johnathan Bryan told council members that plans to improve what is known as the ‘Lafayette Diamond’ would require the approval of an easement, in title only, for Duke Energy Progress. The issue has been cleared by the S.C. Department of Transportation, he said.

Winter-Winding Down? New!

Winter – Winding Down?

What an odd winter it has been this year in Sumter, South Carolina.  First we received the lions’ share of snow, about seven inches in different parts of the County, while the upstate known for light snows received none.  Next, we have already had, in Sumter County, sub 20o weather for days with highs only reading sub-freezing levels at 280.  Not our typical winter weather in Sumter for sure.  Global warming, is not here!
