Columbia City Ballet bringing "Beauty & The Beast" to Patriot Hall


Columbia City Ballet will grace the Patriot Hall stage with its production of “Beauty & The Beast” for two spellbinding performances only. This production features choreography from Executive Director William Starrett and music composed by Léon Fyodorovich Minkus. The performances will be held at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 11 at Patriot Hall.

Domestic violence art project at Patriot Hall slated to open Thursday


The Sumter County Cultural Commission and the Sumter YWCA are cooperating on an art installation project to raise awareness about domestic violence and sexual abuse.

Carmela Bryan, the commission’s executive director, said she’s looking forward to the show’s opening at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 9 at Patriot Hall. There will be guest speakers and attendees can expect to receive plenty of information about these important issues.

Team Sumter County welcomes three new employees


Three new employees joined Team Sumter County last week.

Magan Adams is a graduate of Morris College and is excited to begin work as a corrections officer at Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center.

“I got a degree in criminal justice so it’s pretty cool to put my degree to work,” she said.

We have a budget! New!


On June 12, 2018, Sumter County Council approved the third and final reading for Fiscal Year 2018-2019 Budget Ordinance.  This year’s budget proposal was balanced at $52,752,483 revenues and expenditures with “NO TAX INCREASE.”
