So far, so good.
City-County Planning Director George McGregor said on Friday that the kick-off meeting for the Sumter 2040 Comprehensive Plan went very well.
“We got tons of feedback,” he said. “I’m going through a lot of notes.”
The official kick-off forum for the 2040 Comp Plan saw about 25 people in attendance, he said. The meeting was held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 6 at Central Carolina Technical College’s Health Sciences Building.
The “conversational format” worked really well, he said, and stoked commentary about neighborhoods, a Community Survey Report, various design elements and more.
The survey was available online from June to September 2018 and was also available at City and County Government facilities as well as several other public locations around Sumter County.
“Broad in subject matter, the survey aimed to elicit responses related to quality of life issues, land use matters, and development trends and patterns. The candid responses will be combined with other background materials collected during the planning process to shape goals and policies that will guide all new development and redevelopment in the community,” states a brief survey report.
McGregor said more community meetings are in the works and will be scheduled once the holidays are over.
“We will continue to meet with individual neighborhood associations and stakeholders in our community,” he said.
