The Sumter Fire Department is committed to education and the demonstration of fire prevention and safety. There is an on-going commitment to reduce fire related deaths and injuries in the City of Sumter and Sumter County. The Firefighters go into schools, daycare centers, churches, visit civic groups and in any location where they can address the need to educate the public on fire prevention and safety.

The Fire Stations are another resource for education. Groups may visit the fire stations with an opportunity to see a demonstration with protective clothing and air packs used during fire fighting. They will also discuss fire safety along with demonstrating various pieces of apparatus according to time allowed for each visit.
